Village post-storm report

Dear Residents,

This is a quick report on the Blizzard of 2026 and its impact on the Village.

With respect to snowplowing, we are very pleased to report that our roads remained passable at almost all times.  In fact, I was out in one of the snowplows at 7 am, and the roads were in very drivable condition, even for regular cars.

Based on the reports we have gathered, our snowplowing was better than that of almost all our surrounding communities. A big thank you to our Department of Public Works and our Superintendent, Christian DiMartino, for managing this.

We accomplished this, in part, by ensuring that all equipment and salt were pre-positioned inside the Village before the storm–dramatically improving response times.

For future reference and to avoid tickets:

  • It is the homeowners’ responsibility to ensure that their snow contractor does not leave snow in the middle of the street.

  • Have your contractor park their equipment on your property and not on the street.

  • Do not park on Village streets, especially during snow events–not even in cul-de-sacs.

With respect to power outages, we experienced relatively few–a welcome improvement over past storms.  We encourage residents without generators to consider installing one for their homes!

Thank you to Public Works personnel, our police, and all our staff for pulling together.

Working together makes a real difference!

That is all for now.

Mayor Peter Forman
