Subject: Water quality is excellent--Reduce irrigation

Dear Residents,

This message is only intended for residents south of the Governors Lane Water Dept main station.

As many of you are aware, there have been some micro-air bubbles in the water lately.  Please note: Our water is tested weekly and 100% safe.

These are micro-air bubbles only—not contaminants.

Because of the recent lack of rain (dry spell), our systems are pumping a bit more air.  That is what creates this white, cloudy appearance you may be seeing.

As irrigation season is ending, we expect this to subside.

We are asking you to reduce your irrigation now for this season.  Since temperatures have now subsided, this reduced irrigation should not be a problem.

Please note, the weekly testing of water is reviewed and monitored by a third-party laboratory and by the Nassau County Department of Health.

As you have read in the Village newsletters, we have gotten a permit for a new well, which is moving forward.  It will still take another year until it is online.  This will resolve the issue. Thank you for your assistance.

Summary:

Our water is monitored, tested, and is safe.

Reduce irrigation to help reduce air in the water

New wells will be coming online in the future to add to capacity.

Christian DiMartino,

Superintendent of Water & Public Works
